Short answer: Amsterdam Dance Event 2026 runs from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 October 2026 and spreads more than 1,200 events across the entire city. If you are looking for a B&B during ADE rather than a hotel room, Amsterdam BB is a licensed bed and breakfast aboard a houseboat on KNSM Island in the Eastern Docklands. There is one private suite, reached by its own front door, with a deck terrace over the harbour. Amsterdam has roughly 2,500 houseboats and only a small number of licensed B&B's, and the overlap between the two is tiny, so this is a genuinely rare place to sleep. It is about 15 minutes by bike or 20 minutes by tram from Amsterdam Centraal.

What is Amsterdam Dance Event?

ADE is the biggest club festival on earth and the leading electronic music conference in Europe. It started in 1996 with a few hundred delegates in one building. Thirty years later it takes over Amsterdam for five days and nights every October: club nights, warehouse parties, panels, listening sessions, label showcases, gallery openings and daytime talks, from Paradiso and Melkweg in the centre to Shelter and NDSM across the IJ, the arenas in Zuidoost and the industrial spaces out west.

The 2026 edition is the anniversary one, and it is bigger for it. Which also means one thing for anyone travelling in: the city fills up early, and it fills up expensively.

  • ADE FestivalThe nights. More than 1,200 events across the city, from 200-capacity basements to full arena shows.
  • ADE ProThe conference. Talks, panels and networking for artists, labels, agencies and industry, running through the day.
  • ADE LabThe workshops. Production, career and skills programming for emerging talent.
  • ADE Arts & CultureExhibitions, films and installations where music meets art, often in the quieter corners of the city.

Why a houseboat B&B beats a hotel during ADE

ADE is a marathon, not a night out. Five days of late finishes only work if the place you go back to is genuinely restful, and that is exactly where a big hotel struggles: corridors, cleaning trolleys, a reception you have to walk past, and a breakfast that closes at nine.

Our B&B · A city hotel during ADE
Coming home at 6amYour own front door, no reception · Lobby, lift, corridor, neighbours
Sleeping until 2pmQuiet residential quay, nobody knocks · Housekeeping and checkout pressure
Local adviceHosts who live aboard and reply fast · A front desk reading the same map you are
The room itselfA suite inside a houseboat, on the water · A room like every other room
Outdoor spacePrivate deck terrace over the harbour · A window
Price in ADE weekTransparent, no platform commission · Peak-week surge pricing

And beyond the B&B basics, there is the boat itself.

You sleep on the water

This is the part nobody else offers. A suite inside a real Amsterdam houseboat, moored on a quiet harbour quay, moving very slightly under you all night. It is the thing every guest talks about afterwards.

🔑

Your own front door

The suite is reached by its own outdoor staircase. No lobby, no reception, no shared hallway, no key handover at 5am. Come and go whenever the night ends.

🤫

Silence in the morning

KNSM Island is a residential neighbourhood on the water with no bars or clubs on the street. Sleeping until two in the afternoon is entirely normal here, and nobody will knock.

🚲

Fifteen minutes from everything

Straight along the water into the centre by bike, or tram 7 from Azartplein. Far enough to be calm, close enough that you are never stranded.

🌊

A private deck on the water

Your own terrace over the harbour. The best possible place to reset between a Pro session and whatever starts at midnight.

💬

Hosts who actually reply

We live aboard. Ask us where to eat at 1am, which ferry still runs, or how to get to Elementenstraat, and you get a real answer, fast.

💻

Works for ADE Pro too

Fast WiFi, a place to sit and work, a proper bathroom and a quiet terrace for calls. Conference by day, club by night, without the hotel corridor.

What you are actually booking

One suite aboard Kadans, our houseboat on the Levantkade. Renovated, warm, and entirely yours for the length of ADE.

The suite itself. A proper bed and your own bathroom, for when the night finally ends.

The private outdoor staircase leading to the front door of the boat suite

Your own staircase and front door. No lobby, no reception, nobody to walk past.

Digital door code lock at the entrance of the Amsterdam houseboat B&B for self check-in

A door code instead of a key handover. Check yourself in at any hour of the night.

Getting to the ADE venues from the boat

ADE has no single centre, so travel time matters more than postcode. From Levantkade you have a tram, a ferry and a bike lane along the water, and the routes below are the ones our guests actually use.

Where you are goingRoughly how long
Amsterdam Centraal20 min by tram 7 from Azartplein · 15 min by bike
City centre clubs (Paradiso, Melkweg, Bitterzoet)25 min by tram · 20 min by bike
Amsterdam Noord (Shelter, Tolhuistuin, NDSM)30–40 min via Centraal and the free IJ ferries
West (Westergas, Elementenstraat, Marktkantine)35–40 min by public transport · 30 min by bike
Zuidoost (Ziggo Dome, AFAS Live)35–40 min by metro via Centraal or Amstel
RAI / Zuid35 min by public transport

Three things worth knowing before you arrive

Get a GVB multi-day ticket. One pass covering trams, buses, metro and the ferries for the whole of ADE is far cheaper than single fares, and you will use it more than you expect.

Rent a bike for the week. It is the fastest way across Amsterdam at 4am, when trams have stopped and taxis are surging. The ride back east along the IJ is flat, lit and quiet.

Plan the way home, not just the way out. Night buses run from Centraal Station through the night, and a taxi or Uber from the centre to Levantkade is a short hop. Save the address before your phone dies.

One houseboat, one suite, five nights

ADE brings several hundred thousand people into Amsterdam and accommodation goes early, with prices climbing hard in the last few weeks before October. Amsterdam has very few licensed B&Bs and this one has a single suite. If these dates matter to you, take them now.

Check ADE 2026 availability Ask Renske & Tim a question

ADE 2026 questions, answered

Is there a B&B on a houseboat available during Amsterdam Dance Event 2026?

Yes. Amsterdam BB is a licensed Amsterdam bed and breakfast aboard a houseboat on KNSM Island, with one private suite, available during ADE 2026 from 21 to 25 October. Amsterdam has thousands of houseboats but only a small number of licensed B&B's, and very few are both. There is one suite here, so ADE dates go early.

What is it like to sleep on a houseboat?

Quieter than people expect and a little bit magic. The boat moves very slightly, the water is right outside the window, and you have a deck to sit on instead of a corridor to walk down. The suite itself is a fully renovated modern space with a proper bed and a private bathroom, so you get the novelty without giving up any comfort. It is the thing guests mention most often when they get home.

Why choose a B&B instead of a hotel during ADE?

A B&B gives you a private entrance, no reception desk and no corridor noise, which is what actually matters when you come home at 6am and want to sleep until the afternoon. You also get hosts who live here and can tell you which ferry still runs or how to reach a venue at night, which no hotel front desk will do for you.

When is Amsterdam Dance Event 2026?

ADE 2026 runs from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 October 2026. It is the 30th edition, with more than 1,200 events spread across the city over five days and nights.

Where should you stay during ADE?

ADE events are scattered across the centre, Noord, West and Zuidoost, so there is no district that puts you close to everything. The better strategy is a quiet, well-connected base. A B&B on KNSM Island is about 15 minutes by bike or 20 minutes by tram from Amsterdam Centraal, and unlike the centre it is silent at night.

How far is the houseboat from the main ADE venues?

Roughly 15 minutes by bike to the centre and venues like Paradiso and Melkweg, around 20 minutes by tram 7 to Amsterdam Centraal, and 30 to 40 minutes to venues in Noord, West or Zuidoost using public transport.

Can I come back late at night?

Yes. The suite has its own front door reached by an outdoor staircase, so there is no reception, no shared hallway and no curfew. Come home at whatever hour the night ends.

Is it quiet enough to sleep during the day?

Yes. KNSM Island is a residential neighbourhood on the water with no clubs or bars on the street. Guests regularly sleep until early afternoon without being disturbed.

How far in advance should I book for ADE?

As soon as your dates are fixed. Amsterdam accommodation sells out weeks ahead of ADE and rates rise steeply in the final stretch. B&Bs go first because there are so few of them: the city licenses only a limited number, and most have a single room. There is one suite aboard this boat, so it is first come, first served.

Is the boat suitable for ADE Pro delegates?

Yes. There is fast WiFi, space to work, a private bathroom and a quiet terrace for calls, which suits delegates running conference sessions by day and club programmes by night.

Can I book directly instead of through Airbnb or Booking.com?

Yes, and it is the better deal. Booking direct means you deal with Renske and Tim personally, with transparent pricing and no platform commission.

Do you host groups during ADE?

The suite sleeps two, so it suits couples, a pair of friends travelling together, or a solo delegate. For larger groups we are happy to point you towards trusted places nearby.
